KoolSpan and Trustonic Announce Global Partnership; Introduce Secure Voice and Data Solutions Built on TEE Enhanced Smart Devices at Mobile World Congress 2014

BETHESDA, Md. and BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- KoolSpan, Inc. announced today at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, a strategic partnership to enable KoolSpan's TrustCall® secure voice communication with the Trustonic(TM)-base Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).

KoolSpan's TrustCall provides a cost-effective and secure voice solution for smartphones. The global partnership will enable KoolSpan's voice security encryption to use Trustonic's TEE, providing a robust mobile security solution through hardware isolation that separates voice processing from the standard, general-purpose, operating system.

"The industry is moving to hardware based security with many popular smartphones, and is now including TEE technology as standard," said Gregg Smith, CEO of KoolSpan. "Our collaboration with Trustonic bolsters our ability to provide the highest level of security and encryption, enabling businesses, enterprises, financial professionals, governments and individuals to protect against increasing threats to mobile voice communications."

"Security should be simple and effective in whatever context. The Trustonic TEE makes it simple to integrate security sensitive apps in smart connected devices," said Ben Cade, CEO of Trustonic. "With KoolSpan actively engaged in our developer program, we can expect to see enterprises quickly deploy secure voice and data communication in many more devices than was previously possible."

KoolSpan's TrustCall provides GSM and WiFi-enabled security with no impact on battery life, and peer-to-peer authentication with no man-in-the-middle attack. The current generation hardware anchor for KoolSpan's TrustCall security solution is the TrustChip®, a FIPS 140-2 validated, self-contained, secure, microSD encryption engine which powers security offerings for S-1, the Samsung-affiliated global leader in mobile security, and Encrypted Mobile Voice Encrypted Mobile Voice, AT&T's encryption platform.
