Arizona Citizens Can Safely Dispose of Unwanted Electronics at Arizona Technology Council's Free Technology Recycling Event January 18
Statewide community effort supported by Data Doctors and Westech Recyclers
PHOENIX, Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Receiving a new computer, tablet, smart phone, television, stereo or other electronic equipment during the holidays is always a welcomed gift, but tossing the old devices into the trash isn't good for the environment. Arizona citizens seeking to dispose of their old electronics properly have the opportunity to participate in Technology Recycling Day on Saturday, January 18(th), from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., sponsored by the Arizona Technology Council Foundation and supported by Data Doctors and Westech Recyclers.

"If new electronic devices were received as presents during the holidays, we want to make it easy for Arizona residents to recycle their older, unwanted items," said Steven Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. "We also cater to businesses of all sizes. Our free recycling service accepts anything from PCs to main frames and about everything in between."
Held twice a year in Arizona, major drop-off locations will be located throughout the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas in addition to any Arizona Data Doctors location in the state including Tucson and Flagstaff. A complete list of Data Doctors locations can be found at http://www.datadoctors.com/mkt/AZ. Receipts for tax donation purposes will be available at all locations.
Drop-off Dates, Locations and Times:
The following Phoenix metro area drop-off locations are accepting donations on Saturday, January 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

The electronic equipment and components acceptable for drop-off includes personal computers, computer peripherals, networking equipment, main frames, servers, point-of-sale equipment, printers, audio/visual and telecom devices, surplus metals, wire, cable and power strips. Miscellaneous electronic items such as test and/or lab equipment are also acceptable.
Those wishing to donate their hard drives but want to make sure that the information is securely wiped can drop off their donations at the Data Doctors Data Recovery & Forensics lab in Tempe located at 725 S Rural Rd #107, Tempe 85281.
All donated equipment will be handled through the Arizona Technology Council Foundation's TechTerra Program in partnership with Westech Recyclers. As part of that program, a portion of the equipment is donated statewide to support Arizona educational programs.
"When electronic items are thrown away, they often end up in a landfill where heavy metals within the electronics such as lead, cadmium and mercury, pose a threat to the environment," said Tom Holland, business development manager, Westech Recyclers, an Arizona Technology Council member company. "Westech Recyclers has assisted thousands of companies in safely and efficiently recycling their unwanted computer, electronic and medical equipment."
