IO Certified Under Arizona Computer Data Center Program

Customers Add Tax Benefits to Proven Savings from IO Intelligent Control platform

PHOENIX, Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IO, a global leader in software-defined data centers, today announced that its Arizona data centers have been certified under the Arizona Computer Data Center (CDC) program.  IO satisfied the State's certification requirements as a CDC, and its IO Phoenix and IO Scottsdale data centers were approved to house qualified co-location tenants.  Additionally, the IO data centers were qualified as "sustainable redevelopment projects," doubling the certification and benefits period from ten to twenty years.

Under the program, IO and its customers may qualify for exemptions from Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) and Use taxes on the purchase of qualified CDC equipment, including all state, county, and local level TPT or Use taxes. Qualified tenants must be contracted to use at least 500 kilowatts per month, for a minimum of two years.

"Because of the additional, significant economic benefits we can now offer our Arizona customer base, we are pleased to have our local data centers certified under the state's CDC tax exemption program," said Anthony Wanger, IO President and Co-Founder. "Effectively, this means that customers who choose to deploy at our world-class data centers in Arizona can experience substantial tax savings, in addition to the cost reductions already offered by the IO Intelligent Control platform. We look forward to helping existing and prospective IO customers craft deployment strategies that enable them to maximize these landmark benefits."

Recent news out of IO Phoenix operation came in August of this year, when IO announced that its modular technology had been found by Arizona Public Service (APS) to achieve 19% energy cost savings over traditional data center operations in the same Phoenix location. Having been achieved under the most strenuous environmental conditions and subject to high-resiliency customer SLAs, the study results are believed to represent a minimum in terms of expected cost and efficiency improvements.  The study marked the data center industry's first and only known third-party efficiency evaluation and comparative validation between modular and traditional data center technology.
