deCarta and GreenOwl Mobile bring Audio Traffic Alerts to the Connected Driver
Narrowcast audio traffic alerts integrated into leading connected car platform
SAN JOSE, Calif. and MARKHAM, Ontario, Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- deCarta, Inc., the leading independent LBS technology company announced today that they have partnered with GreenOwl Mobile, creators of the TrafficAlert traffic reporting and media platform to integrate narrowcast audio traffic information into the deCarta Connected Car Platform. Through the partnership, drivers will get timely information about traffic conditions along the route, delivered in a non-distracting audio report. In addition to traffic conditions, the combination of GreenOwl traffic information and deCarta's Connected Car services will provide the driver with alternative routes to minimize traffic delays. This solution is available for immediate deployment by automotive OEMs, Tier 1 automotive suppliers and application developers.
Narrowcast traffic information is a major improvement over current broadcast methods because it allows the driver to get all relevant updates on road conditions ahead without having to filter through periodic traffic reports for the whole metropolitan area. These reports are delivered in a timely manner (within seconds of an incident or reduced traffic flow occurring). And, because they are audible, the driver can focus on the road without being distracted by a myriad of colored lines or cartoonish icons. In addition, the combination of GreenOwl's traffic content and deCarta's traffic-enabled routing engine gives the driver not just information about what is happening on the route ahead but also alternative routes that may save driving time.
