One2Touch Shows Battery-Less Portable Keyboard at WIMA USA

SAN FRANCISCO, October 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

Norwegian tech company One2Touch unveiled a completely battery-less portable keypad
for Android smartphones at the WIMA USA Conference [http://www.wima.mc/usa ] in San
Francisco today.

The fully working concept has no battery, and harvests just a few milliwatts of power
from the smartphone while in use. It draws zero power from the phone when not in use.

    Incredible efficiency

The One2Touch battery-less keypad is engineered to require only miniscule amounts of
power from the smartphone it is paired with.

Connecting via Near Field Communication (NFC), the portable, completely wireless
keypad draws power from the NFC field of the smartphone, behaving similarly to a passive
NFC tag.

One2Touch's testing revealed that for a typical use case of composing a message or
email, a smartphone screen used hundreds of milliwatts of power. By comparison, the
One2Touch battery-less keyboard device used less than five milliwatts during the same use
case.

Patents are pending in the US and China for the proprietary technology behind the
device.

    Long lifetime, reduced waste

Being completely battery-free makes for a long-life device. The keypad was designed to
outlive battery-powered devices, and reduce waste - both battery waste and keyboard waste.

One2Touch CEO Morten Wiese sees an exciting future for the production-ready device.

"We're proud to have created a truly innovative portable wireless keypad - we believe
it is the first in the world to eliminate the need for any type of battery," he said.

"This power-harvesting, battery-less model will soon be an important part of our
range, alongside our Softpad C1 and Softpad S1 NFC keypads that are already in the
market."

"The device we're showing at WIMA is fully realized, and ready for production. We're
looking forward to establishing partnerships to bring it to market." he said.

    Tester program

One2Touch is looking for testers and reviewers for its range of portable NFC keypads
for Android. US-based journalists and bloggers wishing to test or review a One2touch
device can register their interest at http://www.one2touch.com.
