Huawei eLTE Solution Helps Energy Enterprises Achieve Digital Transformation

DAEGU, South Korea, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, demonstrated its innovative power transmission and transformation communications solution at the World Energy Congress (WEC 2013) and shared with worldwide customers and industry partners the advanced private network communications solution. Specifically tailored for the energy industry, Huawei's enterprise Long Term Evolution (eLTE) solution perfectly fits various specialized services, helping energy enterprises achieve digital transformation.

At the exhibition, Ms. Jiang Pingping, Director of Huawei's Enterprise Wireless Solution Sales Dept, made a keynote speech entitled Huawei's eLTE solution in the Energy Industry. Ms. Jiang elaborated on Huawei's efforts in the oil and gas industry and the electric power industry as well as the application of the eLTE solution in scenarios such as offshore oil and gas fields, onshore oil and gas fields, and urban power distribution automation.

She also explained the ways to use Huawei's eLTE solution to help energy enterprises improve operational efficiency, production security, and service innovation to meet the challenges of business growth.

Ms. Jiang said, "Sticking to the strategy of 'being integrated', Huawei provides open platforms and interfaces for different enterprise applications and proactively works with customers and partners in the oil and gas sector to develop integrated and customized solutions for different industries. Featuring large bandwidth, low latency, high real-time capability, and wide coverage, Huawei's eLTE solution can bear a wide array of private energy services. Serving as the 'pipe' of information transmission, Huawei's eLTE solution helps industry customers step into a digital and information-led era."

At the event, Huawei illustrated its eLTE solution and highlighted its close combination with industry needs by displaying its products and providing dynamic service experiences. Huawei's successful practices in the energy industry were also shared.

Huawei's eLTE solution has been successfully deployed in multiple oilfield projects. Take the example of Norway's North Sea oil fields, whose drilling platforms are located in freezing and highly corrosive environments. To address challenges facing Tampnet, the independent supplier of high capacity communication to offshore oil and gas installations in the North Sea, Huawei helped the customer deploy the world's first offshore oilfield LTE network, providing a 37-kilometer radius of wireless broadband coverage with real-time data throughput (uplink: 1 Mbit/s; downlink: 2 Mbit/s). In Xinjiang, China, Huawei built the world's first onshore oilfield LTE network, providing seamless network coverage at a desirable edge rate to meet various oilfield service requirements.

In the electric power field, Huawei's eLTE solution helps electric power enterprises to remotely implement a wide range of services, including distribution grid automation, remote meter reading (smart meter), preventive maintenance scheduling, video surveillance over specific areas, and emergency communications vehicles (ECV). Huawei's eLTE solution, therefore, enhances the automation and information level of electric power systems.
