Transforming Education Through Innovation: Broadview University Introduces The Educational User Experience--edUX

New learning model utilizes technology to make college more engaging and affordable

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadview University introduces the Educational User Experience (edUX), an innovative adaptive learning model, transforming how students learn with the use of technology. This transformation includes making the classroom experience more interactive and engaging, and now all Broadview University students will utilize iPad as part of their learning experience. Campuses will be transformed into Broadview University "iPad Zones" for hands on, career-focused learning with instructors also using iPad and its technology in the classroom.

"We're using iPads as part of this learning model to enhance the classroom experience and to ensure our students are ready to meet the market demand for smart, tech-savvy professionals," said Shana Weiss, Broadview University Academic Dean. "edUX is a continuation of our longstanding commitment to providing students with a cutting-edge, hands-on learning environment."

To enhance and support the new learning experiences, Broadview University will provide students with iPad scholarships to cover the cost of the iPad. All Broadview University students are eligible for the iPad scholarship for the fall academic quarter 2013.

"We're always looking for ways to optimize costs for our students while simultaneously assessing and enhancing the rigor of our degree programs," said Weiss. "By providing students with the iPad scholarship we're able to ensure every student has the proper tools and technology to be successful in the classroom."

The introduction of iPad not only enhances the learning experience, but also makes college more affordable for both students and schools.  Producing and printing expensive, quickly-out-of-date paper textbooks will be a thing of the past; with students instead utilizing lighter, less expensive e-books customized for their classes and downloaded right to their iPad. Students will also have access to the over 20,000 educational apps now available for iOS devices on the App Store.

"We're committed to providing not only an innovative, but affordable college experience for our students," said Weiss. "Eliminating the need for most textbooks will save our students thousands of dollars and we know affordability plays a major role in ensuring students stay enrolled and working toward on-time degree completion."

edUX gives students at Broadview University access to interactive digital content and the tools to creatively and actively engage with other students and their instructors.  edUX also allows students to connect to their campus and outside community in newly applied and meaningful ways.

"Technology is at the forefront of everything we implement in the classroom," said Weiss. "Whether enrolled in a master's degree program, 9-month certificate--or anything in between, edUX will transform how our students learn, engage, connect, apply, and eventually work, in their chosen career field."
