Kreyos Unveils First Hands-Free, Two-Way Smartwatch That Lets Sports & Fitness Enthusiasts Use Voice And Gestures To Control Voice, Text, Emails, Music & More...On-the-Go

SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tired of carrying your smartphone while running, cycling or golfing?  Ever struggled to pull your phone out of your bag and missed an important call?  Wish you could get rid of all your fitness gadgets and carry one handy tool with you while exercising?

Kreyos, a multi-national start-up based in the United States, today unveiled the Kreyos Meteor - the first hands-free, two-way smartwatch that allows you to use voice and gestures to control your smartwatch.

"The first-generation of smartwatches on the market let you receive notifications.  But that's just one-way communication," says Steve Tan, co-founder of Kreyos.  "What's exciting is that we have gone far beyond that with the Meteor.  Now you can actually use voice or gestures to communicate with your friends via voice, text, email and social media.  It's a huge step forward for the smartwatch market.  In essence, anything your smartphone can do, you'll soon be able to do on your smartwatch."

The Power of Voice Control

Since the Kreyos Meteor is the only waterproof smartwatch on the market to feature a microphone and speaker, it is the first to allow you to control your smartwatch - and your smartphone functions - using voice commands.

"The Kreyos Meteor allows users to simply connect their smartwatch with their smartphone's voice command system," says Patricia Roche', vice president of marketing for Kreyos.  "Once connected, you'll be able to call friends, manage phone calls, respond to texts, change music, post to social media, send emails and access applications simply by using your voice."

The smartwatch works with Apple's SIRI - and is designed to work with other smartphone voice applications when they arrive on the market.  "Imagine being able to answer a phone without digging in your pocketbook for your smartphone.  Or ride a bike or a horse without worrying about losing your phone in the woods," Roche' says.  "The Kreyos Smartwatch gives you the freedom to use your smartphone even when it isn't with you."

Change Your Music and More...Using Gestures

Roche' notes that Kreyos has built motion control into the operating system of the Kreyos Meteor, which means that this is not a feature that can be easily replicated by other first-generation smartwatch companies.

"We have a special three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer built into the Meteor, so controlling your watch is as easy as moving your hand - up and down, left and right," she says.  "And if you don't like a specific gesture, we've provided you with the ability to customize your gestures, according to your preferences. And soon, we'll be adding a variety of other motions to the Kreyos platform."

With gesture control, users will be able to change music, answer a call or check an alert, among other activities, with a simple movement.   Initially, four different wrist motions will come pre-configured with the Kreyos and developers will have the freedom to build additional gestures into applications using Kreyos SDK.

Tracking Fitness Simplified with ANT+ Connectivity

In addition to its voice and gesture capabilities, the Kreyos Meteor has the ability to constantly record your body data, day and night.   This information can be used to track goals achieved, share progress with your social network or with friends, etc.

"The Meteor has a built-in pedometer that can track the number of steps you've taken in one day; show you the distance you've walked; how many stairs you've climbed; or how many calories you've burned.  Then you can upload that information to the "cloud" and share with trainers, coaches, friends or anyone on your social network," Roche' notes.

In addition, the Meteor is designed to connect to any ANT+ or Bluetooth-enabled sensors, including heartbeat monitors, blood pressure sensors, among others. "Anyone looking to lose weight or get fit will discover that they don't need to carry around a bunch of gadgets.  Instead, they can link them to their smartwatch - and track their stats in real time."

"We're already working with developers on new applications that will enable users to record advanced data and metrics in real time and enable coaches to provide after-exercise analysis of performance," Roche' adds.  "Imagine being able to analyze your golf swing while on the golf course.  Or let a coach take a look at your stats remotely after a workout.  This technology is going to revolutionize the way people use data to improve their fitness.

Built Differently From the Platform Up

Because voice and gesture control are hardware, rather than software, integrations, Kreyos literally built its operating system for the Kreyos Meteor so that it could accommodate these functions from the outset.

Some key functions of the Kreyos Meteor include, among others:

--  Hands-free control of your smartphone
    --  Two-way interactive SMS/text and email messaging
--  Full-scale health and fitness monitoring device
--  Social media notifications and ability to post updates on the fly
--  Notifications (alarms, calendar, SMS, email, weather, breaking news)
--  Full clock and calendar functionality
--  Connects to all types of devices and platforms, including iOS, Android.
--  Complete customization with Kreyos SDK
Fashion Accessories for Those on the Go

The Kreyos Meteor Smartwatch comes with a watchband (available in sizes for both men and women), and are available in black, white, lime, pink and blue colors.  In addition, because Kreyos users are expected to be active, the Meteor has some additional accessories.  Users can simply pop their Meteor smartwatch out of the Kreyos WatchBand and put it into a specially-made BeltHook or LanYard (which hangs around the neck or from a bike).

"Our accessories and watchbands are made of a highly durable, waterproof silicone that's flexible and fun to wear," says Roche'.  "In initial tests, everyone wanted to order the watchbands in every color - and add an accessory package.  It's fun because you can mix it up and wear whatever works the best for you."

Roche' noted that the Meteor has already been tested and is ready for production.  Unlike most of the first-generation smartwatches, the Meteor is raising funds on Indiegogo primarily for manufacturing, marketing, distribution and future advances.  With a successful run on Indiegogo, they estimate that those who purchase the smartwatch will have their smartwatch and any accessories in November - in plenty of time for the Christmas holidays.
