National Technical Systems Announces New Product Safety Lab at Plano, TX Facility

International Approval Capabilities, New Director of Telecommunications To Be Featured at Plano Facility Open House, Customer Appreciation Day

CALABASAS, Calif. and PLANO, Texas, June 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Technical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of testing and engineering services, announced today that its Plano, TX facility is building a new internationally-focused product safety lab capability and has hired its first Director of Telecommunications. The new lab capability and Tom Griffith, the new Director of Telecommunications, will be among the features at the facility's open house/Customer Appreciation Day on June 28.

The new product safety lab, scheduled for completion by mid-July, has been designed to support customers seeking a wide variety of international approvals for their exports. The newly-created position of Director of Telecommunications will bring a new level of focus at the Plano facility on telecommunications testing and customer outreach, noted William C. McGinnis, President and CEO of National Technical Systems.

"We are the leading aerospace, military, commercial electronic and telecommunications product testing laboratory in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area and will continue to upgrade and evolve the facility to meet the new demands of all of our customers," McGinnis said. "In terms of international product approvals, we have made it our goal to be a comprehensive provider of international product testing and will support our customers in their export efforts by preparing them in terms of product safety, specific paperwork and legal demands and any other international requirements. In terms of telecommunications, we have a new focus to continue to grow the business."

Other featured capabilities at the Plano facility include vibration testing at extreme temperatures (-300° F to 600° F), salt water immersion testing up to 150 feet deep and radar avoidance testing (DFS test). The facility includes a 50,000-square-foot main laboratory with another 45,000-square-foot support facility.

Griffith, 48, a resident of Dallas, has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He is the founder and former Vice President Sales and Business Development for Dallas-based BRIDGE Networks Inc., a company focused on bridging telecom and data networks together in the wireless carrier environment.

The open house/Customer Appreciation Day will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, June 28. The Plano facility is located at 1701 E. Plano Parkway, Suite 150.
