SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Chelsio Communications, a leading provider of 10Gb Ethernet Unified Wire Adapters and ASICs, today announced the availability of the first set of 40Gb Ethernet network adapters based on the fifth generation of its hyper-virtualized unified wire Terminator ASIC architecture. The T5 powered adapters are the industry's highest performance Ethernet interfaces, delivering wire speed bandwidth, ultra low latency and high message processing capacity. With a comprehensive suite of offloaded storage, compute and networking protocols - including RDMA, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, iSCSI and FCoE with T10-DIX - T5 enables network convergence and provides unprecedented performance in virtualized environments, while dramatically increasing host system efficiency and lowering communications overhead.

The new T5 based cards are high performance drop-in replacements for any FibreChannel or InfiniBand adapter in BSD, Linux and Windows environments:
-- T520-LL-CR: a dual-port, ultra low latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet Unified
Wire adapter with a PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface, optimized for
financial and HPC applications, with over 6M messages/sec capacity and
near zero jitter. It is also a Best in Class 10 GbE interconnect
solution for cloud computing, virtualization, storage, and other data
center applications. The T520-LL-CR provides 1.5usec end-to-end latency
to user-space TCP, UDP and RDMA applications, and is capable of 2x10G
full duplex line rate forwarding performance with 64B packets in RFC
2544 testing.
-- T580-LP-CR: a dual-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet Unified Wire adapter with
PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface, optimized for cloud computing, HPC,
virtualization, storage, and other data center applications. The
T580-LP-CR provides ultra low latency and line rate 40Gbps full duplex
performance for iSCSI, FCoE, TCP/IP, UDP/IP and RDMA users, and is the
only adapter capable of 40Gb line rate operation at 8KB I/O with Windows
2012 SMB-Direct.
Both adapters have true dual-channel active-active operation capability with failover support between ports and between adapters, qualifying them for deployment in enterprise critical applications.

T5 layer 2 and low latency middleware software is available for download at no additional licensing fees. Offload software is currently available in beta, at no additional licensing fees.
