The recent investigation into the media leaks at HP led to protests that was the deciding factor in current chairman Patricia Dunn retiring. The resignation, which will take place Jan. 18th, 2007, will be followed by the promotion of sorts of current CEO and President of HP Mark Hurd. Dunn will remain on the company board as Director.

In a statement, Hurd said, "I am taking action to ensure that inappropriate investigative techniques will not be employed again. They have no place in HP."
