PacketVideo and ShunCloud Partner to Create HDMI Dongle That Brings Online Video and Personal Media to the Living Room

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PacketVideo today announced a partnership with ShunCloud, an Internet high-tech startup and professional marketing platform, founded by former executives from Aigo, one of China's largest and most well-known manufacturers of consumer electronic accessories. The two companies will create a HDMI dongle for sale in the domestic Chinese market.

The HDMI dongle plugs into the HDMI port on a user's TV and uses PacketVideo's Twonky software to playback personal and web content on the television.  The dongle will support DLNA and be optimized for use with PacketVideo's Twonky Beam Browser with support for the most popular content sites in China, including YouKu, PPTV, Sina, 56.com, and others.  The dongle will also support Airplay, enabling users to download their favorite application with Airplay support from the Apple Store and play content directly to their TV.

"We are excited to work with ShunCloud to bring this innovative product to the domestic Chinese market," said Jim Brailean, CEO of PacketVideo.  "Twonky Beam will let Chinese users enjoy a true multi-screen web experience enabling them to find their favorite content using their tablet, phone, or PC and play it back on their TV."

"After looking at several solutions we felt that the quality and stability of Twonky is what we needed to offer a differentiated product in China," said Jianqiang Ren, CEO of ShunCloud.  "With the growth of smartphones and tablets in China we feel that this solution will be well-received by consumers, enabling them to use their tablet and phone in new and exciting ways."
