CHATSWORTH, Calif., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DataDirect Networks (DDN), world leader in massively scalable storage, will be demonstrating this week at the IBC show in Amsterdam the next generation of its cloud storage solution, WOS, for collaborative media workflows. With WOS, media companies are now able to build private media clouds that complement media workflows and accelerate the media production process across distributed production facilities.

Historically, cloud storage has offered tremendous potential for the media industry, but issues of security, speed, and integration with existing media editing platforms have created barriers to adoption. Today, DDN's WOS eliminates these issues by enabling content creators to store media from their Linux and Windows using standard file system protocols directly to private, secure media clouds, working at LAN speeds, and giving geographically distributed users the ability to share the media immediately via built-in, automated, policy-based data replication. This global storage namespace is unique in two approaches:
