Kozio Introduces 30-Day Free Trial of VTOS for Freescale's P1010 RDB and P1022DS

LONGMONT, Colo., Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kozio, Inc. (http://www.kozio.com), the leading provider of software solutions for embedded hardware design verification and production test, today announced availability of a 30-day free trial of its Verification and Test OS (VTOS(TM)) for users of Freescale's P1010 RDB and P1022DS development boards. Kozio's VTOS Suite combines a special purpose OS with a comprehensive peripheral and processor functional test library.  It provides a powerful verification platform for test execution, file transfer and fast fault isolation. VTOS Suite is designed specifically for the purpose of quickly verifying new embedded designs for design correctness, performance and reliability. With U-Boot, users can boot VTOS for hardware verification and then easily switch to Linux for application development.  VTOS Suite can also accelerate device driver development by quickly verifying basic device operation. This 30-day trial gives users an interactive guided tour of the P1010 RDB and P1022DS, along with access to VTOS. The free trial is available now and can be downloaded directly from the Kozio website (http://www.kozio.com/evaluate-vtos).

"We are pleased that Kozio is offering users of our P1010 RDB and P1022DS QorIQ® development systems a comprehensive verification test suite and platform guide that will allow them to verify and explore the full potential of their hardware," stated Katie Eckerman, Portfolio Marketing Manager for Freescale's Networking Processor Division. "This is a tool that will help empower our customers get to market faster with reduced risk."

Kozio's solution supports many of the features of the P1022DS, including SATA 2.0. Kozio's VTOS provides a device driver, runtime or compile-time access routines, drive discovery, raw read and write access to attached storage devices, and file system support. VTOS gives users the power to explore and fully leverage Freescale's QorIQ platforms, verify that it is performing properly and access and control its low-level hardware and high-level functionality. Kozio also provides the same expert solution set for customers designing custom devices based on Freescale's QorIQ, PowerQUICC®, and i.MX processors.

"With our Freescale collaboration, QorIQ customers now have the benefit of an out of the box hardware verification solution that can save up to 75% of their test development costs," stated Bob Potock, vice president of marketing, Kozio, Inc. "The P1010 RDB and P1022DS VTOS evaluation packages will give Freescale customers an easy way to experience how quickly and thoroughly you can verify a new hardware design when you have the right tools. Freescale and Kozio will continue to work and expand our processor and evaluation board coverage. "

How it Works

VTOS is RAM loadable through U-Boot and communicates with Integration Workbench over a USB, serial or Ethernet connection.  Once VTOS is loaded and running, the user can execute commands or scripts, download files, change test parameters, create new tests or interactive debug.  Up to 8 Units Under Test (UUT) can be run in one session.

About VTOS Suite

VTOS Suite comes with a functional test library and a software development kit (SDK) all for the purpose of design verification and production test.  The suite includes:

--  Integration Workbench((TM)) - a PC based GUI application that
communicates with VTOS running on a Device Under Test (DUT)
--  vLink(TM) - PC based middleware, providing IP communication support
between VTOS and any host application
    --  Sequence Runner((TM)) -  Production test operator's interface for
automated testing and configuration of embedded systems
--  Sequence Reporter((TM)) - Remote test reporting and tracking used to
report the status of board testing by a variety of criteria

Availability

The 30-day free trial of VTOS Suite is available immediately, and can be downloaded directly from the Kozio website http://www.kozio.com/evaluate-vtos.
