Milicruit Crosswalk Makes it Easier for Soldiers to Translate Their Military Skills to Civilian Jobs

Milicruit.Jobs Portal Converts Military Occupation Codes to Equivalent Civilian Careers

CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Milicruit, the recognized leader for virtual career fairs for the military community, announces the successful launch of the Milicruit Crosswalk, http://www.milicruit.jobs, which will make it much easier for a servicemember to translate their military occupation codes or specialty to jobs in the civilian sector.

Milicruit led an effort in March, 2012 to help at least 10,000 veterans and military spouses find jobs with the employer partners who participate in the Milicruit virtual career fairs. In Five months, the employers have hired more than 7,300 and are on pace to exceed the original target of 10,000 hires well ahead of schedule.

"We are constantly striving and challenging ourselves for faster and better ways to connect servicemembers with our employer partners who wish to hire them, and the Milicruit Crosswalk will achieve just that. In addition to the monthly virtual career fairs we are now hosting, the Crosswalk allows the service member to view all available jobs by location, job title, and even their military occupation code or specialty. This is resulting in more veterans finding jobs they may not have thought they would have been a fit for," said Kevin O'Brien, VP Business Development, Milicruit.

Employers benefit greatly from the Milicruit service because they can recruit nationwide in one day and without the cost, burden, or environmental impact typically associated with traditional career fairs. Each employer has a virtual booth that allows for live interaction and provides the job seeker with everything they need to know about the company and why they should consider working for them.

"As Xerox continues to expand, quality employees are in high demand," said Jim Heidrich, Senior Vice President, Global Talent Acquisition and Staffing, Xerox. Heidrich retired from the Marine Corps as colonel after 28 years of service to his country. "Helping our recruiters better understand the benefits of military experience is a crucial step in Xerox being able to better serve our customers by hiring the best employees."

The next virtual career fair is sponsored By Hero 2 Hired http://www.h2h.jobs on August 21, 2012 from 1-4 PM EDT and all service members and military spouses who might have an interest in participating can register at http://www.veteranscareerfair.com.

"Milicruit is now much more than an online job fair, it is a virtual recruitment center that connects veterans with employers in real time, provides resume workshops, translates military skills to civilian jobs, and allows the service members and spouses to chat live in the networking lounge. In essence we are bringing the career fair to the job seeker and employer and much more all from the convenience of wherever they may be located with an internet connection," said O'Brien.
