LONG BEACH, Calif., July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Epson America, a leading provider of exceptional performing business solutions, today announced five professional flatbed document scanners with high speed and robust features for increased efficiency in offices, workgroups and departmental environments. The large format EPSON® WorkForce® DS-70000, DS-60000 and DS-50000, and the letter size WorkForce DS-7500 and DS-6500 are state of the art scanning solutions, offering high quality output, one-pass duplex scanning, excellent paper handling, large capacity paper feeders, high duty cycles, and a software suite for increased productivity and records management.

The WorkForce DS-50000 provides crisp scans for business cards to oversized documents, such as drawings or maps. The EPSON WorkForce DS-7500 and WorkForce( )DS-6500 offer excellent image quality and fast scan speeds. And, Epson's new flatbed scanners allow users to scan directly to popular cloud services, and leverage networking capabilities using an optional network module[1] (sold separately) to support up to 100 workstations with full scanner functionality for increased productivity.

"Epson is committed to its customers and ensuring that its solutions offer the high quality, reliability and ease-of-use that businesses count on," said Mark Pickard, senior product manager, Document Scanners, Epson. "These new WorkForce document scanners deliver the durability and feature set that records management professionals require - whether in healthcare, education, insurance, accounting or any other field - to keep their workplace productive."

Robust Software and Networking Solutions Keep Business Moving Forward
EPSON Document Capture Pro(2) software offers Windows users tremendous flexibility and simplifies the uploading and writing of information to remote network files, improving automated workflow. Document Capture Pro facilitates complex image routing and storage to multiple scan destinations, including FTP sites, folders on PCs, email, and directly to popular cloud services such as SharePoint, Google Docs and Evernote - all with one touch. Users can also take advantage of a simplified scanning process by creating and saving 29 additional user-programmable profiles[1].

For added convenience, Epson also offers an optional network module compatible with each of the new scanners, allowing users to scan to any PC on the network[1] with full access to Document Capture Pro features.

Epson's new flatbed scanners include a robust feature set for high performance scanning, including scan-to-searchable PDF and a powerful software suite that includes EPSON Scan and ABBYY®( )FineReader®( )Sprint OCR. The scanners are also equipped with an ultrasonic double-feed detector, which automatically stops the scanning process if two pages are stuck together. The scanners also include a four-line CCD (RGB and Black) for excellent image quality and fast speeds in both color and black-and-white original scan modes, and provide users with the continuously variable color enhancement and color dropout for great control of the scanned image regardless of the original document color scheme. The WorkForce flatbed scanners are Windows and Mac compatible, include an ISIS driver, are TWAIN-compliant for simple implementation and customization in virtually any workplace environment, and include fast, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity for quick and easy set up.
