American Soccer Stars To Take On The Fans During Euro 2012 Final Game

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Some of America's biggest soccer stars are partnering with OneUp Games for an exclusive Play the Pros event for the Euro 2012 final game. Alex Morgan, Freddy Adu, Sacha Kljestan, Heather O'Reilly and Edson Buddle will be hosting their own game rooms in OneUp Games popular Football Connect for Euro 2012 app. The pros will play against fans, offer advice on the game and answer questions in the chat room. The Euro 2012 finals are set to take place on July 1, 2012 at 2:45 EDT.

Fans wanting admission into the pros' game rooms can earn spots by downloading Football Connect for Euro 2012. Once downloaded, fans can access the Play the Pros section where they will be asked to invite three friends, via email, to download the app. Fans will then unlock the rooms and will be able to play. Space in each room is limited. Football Connect is free in the iTunes store for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

In addition to playing Football Connect for Euro 2012, the pros will be "tweeting" before, during and after the game. The pro's Twitter accounts have a combined following of over one million fans. The pros can be followed on Twitter at: @alexmorgan13; @FreddyAdu; @SachaKljestan; @HeatherOReilly and @EdsonBuddle. OneUp Games can also be followed at @oneupgames.

"Having a chance to play Football Connect against a professional soccer player is priceless," said Daren Trousdell, CEO and Founder of OneUp Games. "All of our Connect games are very social and not your average sports app. We've been wanting to create such an event involving pro athletes for a long time. The chance to interact with the best U.S. soccer players, and to ask questions and get their predictions during the live Euro 2012 match just pushes the game to a higher level."

OneUp Games' Connect line, which also includes American Football, Baseball and Basketball Connect, allows sports fans to engage with the action during the live match, whether watching in person or on TV. The Connect Four-type game encourages fans to not only root for their team but for specific actions so they can win their own game played on their mobile device.

Morgan, from Diamond Bar, California, is a member of the U.S. Women's National Team and a forward for the Seattle Sounders Women's team. In 2011, she was the youngest member on the U.S. team at the FIFA Women's World Cup, which placed second. Morgan was the first-round draft pick overall in the 2011 WPS by the Western New York Flash.

Ghanaian-born Adu, who became a U.S. citizen in 2003, currently plays for the MLS team Philadelphia Union. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but also plays as a winger and forward. Adu was the youngest American athlete in over 100 years to sign a major league pro contract in any team sport when he was drafted by the D.C. United as the number one overall pick in the 2004 draft. Adu was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.

Midfielder Kljestan currently plays for Anderlecht in the Belgian First Division, having previously played in the MLS with Chivas USA. Kljestan was a finalist for the 2006 MLS Rookie of the Year and, along with Adu, was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. He was also a member of the U.S. Under-20 team at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Cup Championship.

Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist O'Reilly is a member of the U.S. Women's National Team. O'Reilly, a midfielder, scored a goal during the 4-1 win against Norway in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup which helped the team to earn a bronze medal. During the 2008 Olympic games, she scored the fastest goal in Olympic women's soccer history against New Zealand to earn the team a spot in the quarterfinals.

Buddle currently plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy as a forward. He was a member of U.S. National Team, having made two appearances at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in matches against England and Algeria. Buddle is named after Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pele.
