Optosecurity Announces a Distribution Agreement With Smiths Detection for its LEDS products

    The distribution agreement will provide airports with Optosecurity' advanced EU
standard products on Smiths Detection's existing equipment

    Optosecurity Inc., a leader in threat detection technology, announced today that the
company has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Smiths Detection, a world
leader in the practical application of advanced technologies for threat and contraband
detection, to provide airports with its advanced EU standard LEDS products.

    For Optosecurity, this agreement means that thousands of Smiths Detection machines
from 3 different lines (HI-SCAN 6040i, 6046si and 7555i) deployed across worldwide
airports can now be upgraded to Type C performance without the need to be replaced or
change the layout of the checkpoints.

    Type C systems can screen multiple liquid containers simultaneously when displayed on
a tray. The requirements are due to come into force after the scheduled lifting of the
current ban on liquids in hand luggage in the EU in April 2013.
