Honeywell's Wi-Fi-Enabled Security and Automation Products Create a "Connected Home" for Busy Homeowners

LYNX Touch 5100 and Tuxedo Touch(TM) Wi-Fi Leverage Honeywell's Legacy in Security, Home Comfort

NEW YORK, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --  CEA LINE SHOW -- For busy parents who can't be two places at once, the next best thing is a home that can tell you what's going on with it, and can be controlled with a smartphone, tablet or other web-enabled device. This week, Honeywell (NYSE: HON) is rolling out two new security and home automation products to make homes smarter: LYNX Touch 5100 and Tuxedo Touch Wi-Fi home controller.

Both products, the latest in Honeywell's "connected home" portfolio, are being showcased during CE Week, a weeklong gathering of consumer electronics brands, people and events.

The expansion of Honeywell's connected home portfolio, which also includes programmable thermostats and applications to remotely manage comfort and security, is being fueled in part by the proliferation of smartphones, owned by nearly half of U.S. mobile phone subscribers, according to Nielsen.

"Smartphones, tablets and other web-enabled devices are empowering families to connect to and control their homes like they've never been able to before, saving time and money and bringing peace of mind," said Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security Group."With these security and automation systems, you can disarm the security system for a child returning home from school, turn up the air conditioning on the way home from work, and watch as a package is delivered to your front door."

Homebuilders are reporting increases in the demand for home technology, with energy management and home automation systems installations at all-time highs, according to recent data from the Consumer Electronics Association.

Both the LYNX Touch 5100 and Tuxedo Touch Wi-Fi Touchscreen use Z-Wave(TM) technology to communicate with other home devices such as thermostats, lighting controls, shades and locks. The Honeywell Total Connect(TM) remote interactive service and applications give consumers access to their security systems from internet-enabled devices including smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

Honeywell is demonstrating these products at booth #49 at the CEA Line Show June 27-28 in New York.
