AT&T Expands Mobile Internet Network Along I-64 Corridor And To Holiday World & Splashin' Safari In Santa Claus

Local Wireless Network Upgrade Extends Access to Advanced Products, Services and Applications

SANTA CLAUS, Ind., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced the expansion of its mobile Internet network providing coverage from Evansville to Ferdinand along I-64. The expansion also includes Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, and the towns of Lynnville and Siberia. The wireless network upgrade extends access to advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content to customers who travel, live and work in the area. Earlier this year, AT&T expanded its mobile Internet network to several other southern Indiana sites including Dale, Tennyson, Lamar, Tell City, Troy and Cannelton.

"Part of our charm is being located 'in the middle of the cornfields' here in southern Indiana," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari President Dan Koch. "Many of our park guests want to stay in touch with family, friends and their social media pages during their stay at our park, so AT&T's upgrades couldn't have come at a better time!"

From 2009 through 2011, AT&T invested more than $1 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in Indiana. AT&T is an industry leader in delivering the benefits of mobile Internet networks, devices and applications. With the nation's fastest mobile broadband network, AT&T provides accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities for an amazing wireless voice and data experience.

"The business and community leadership in southwest Indiana has done an impressive job of building an environment where businesses want to locate and where families want to live," said AT&T Indiana President George S. Fleetwood. "At AT&T, our goal has always been to connect communities and to do it better than anyone else. That is why this region is the perfect place for us to invest in our future growth."

AT&T's mobile Internet network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world. AT&T has the broadest international coverage of any U.S. wireless provider, providing access to voice service in more than 225 countries and data service in more than 200 countries. AT&T also offers voice and data roaming coverage on more than 135 major cruise ships, as well as mobile Internet services in more than 130 countries.

"Demand for wireless bandwidth is growing rapidly, and we want to meet that demand for our customers," said Chris Percy, vice president and general manager of Mobility and Consumer Markets for AT&T Tennessee, Kentucky and southern Indiana. "We're excited to expand mobile Internet in these parts of southern Indiana."

AT&T also operates the nation's largest Wi-Fi network** with more than 30,000 hotspots in the U.S. and provides access to nearly 225,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn't count against customers' monthly wireless data plans.
