Isotec Security Receives Department of Homeland Security Designation

WASHINGTON, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate designated Isotec Security's Automated Weapons Control Portals as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT). The designation award is the culmination of an 18 month vetting process by the Department of Homeland Security and its Science Directorate. The technology's designation is retroactive to March 19, 2010 for Isotec Security systems that meet the criteria set forth by the Office of Safety Act Implementation.

In a statement released earlier, Isotec President David Barnes stated, "The DHS designation is the result of Isotec's commitment to protect the innocent the unassuming and those charged with their protection. The designation by DHS and its Science and Technology Directorate's confirms our ability to protect the most secure facilities on the planet along with their employees and patrons."

The Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology (SAFETY) Act of 2002, was enacted by Congress as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The SAFETY Act has had a prominent role in improving the security of the U.S. citizens and their interests.

Isotec's Automated Weapons Control Portals have long since been the standard of choice by agencies within the Departments of Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, courthouses and financial institutions nation wide by protecting their employees, visitors and facilities. No strategic, public facility or bank has ever suffered an armed incursion or successful armed robbery with an Isotec portal in operation. Unlike bandit barriers Isotec's automated systems are designed to prevent weapons and targeted contraband from entering any facility.

Effective April 1st Isotec will identify DHS Qualified Anti-Terrorism weapons control systems with the ATT acronym in recognition of their Anti-Terrorism Technology designation.

The SAFETY Act provides incentives for the development and deployment of effective anti-terrorism technologies through systems of risk and litigation management. The purpose of the Act is to ensure that the threat of liability does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers and users of anti-terrorism technologies from developing and commercializing technologies that could save lives. The Act creates certain liability limitations for claims arising out of, relating to, or resulting from an act of terrorism where "qualified anti-terrorism technologies" have been deployed.
