New Version of Maxthon 3 Pushes HTML 5 2D and 3D Graphics to New Performance Level

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com), a global software and web services company, announces its newly enhanced version of Maxthon 3, with best-of-the-web support for 2D and 3D graphics processing. In keeping with its commitment to be on the leading edge of HTML 5 support, the new version of Maxthon 3 offers superior support of the HTML5 <canvas> element. For users, this means super-charged experiences in any graphics-heavy application like games or animated content. Users can download the latest version of Maxthon 3 at http://www.maxthon.com/mx3/.

"Sort through all of the developer-speak and this means one, simple thing: people who use Maxthon 3 will experience faster games and graphics of all kinds," says Jeff Chen, CEO of Maxthon. "Our enhanced support of 2D and 3D canvas pushes browser performance another step forward. Visit html5test.org to see for yourself what we already know: Maxthon 3 is leading the way in HTML5 performance."

Today's release caps a multi-month Maxthon 3 performance initiative marked by key, proprietary improvements in browser speed.  Maxthon 3 performance enhancements include:

A November 2011 Maxthon 3 release with graphics processer unit (GPU) performance tweaks that make it faster for GPUs to render complex web graphics.

Enhanced support for the 2D <canvas> element that greatly increases the speed at which 2D web and app images are rendered.

Optimization of how the Maxthon 3 browser handles the relationship between Web GL and 3D rendering in <canvas>.

The new version combined with Maxthon's proprietary GPU hardware acceleration technology offers the fastest 2D and 3D graphics performance of any browser in its class.

"Our R&D approach to Maxthon 3 and HTML5 goes well beyond nominally backing the latest standards. We have made - and continue to make - a significant investment developing an HTML5-optimized browser," says Karl Mattson, GM of Maxthon International/Chief of Product Development. "But, true to our dual core commitment, we're not leaving the Microsoft-optimized side of the equation alone, either.  This new version of Maxthon 3 also includes significant graphics performance improvements in our Trident engine as well. Maxthon 3 makes the whole web run faster."
