ATEN Expands Console Extender Product Line with Launch of New KVM Extenders with Support for DVI and USB

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ATEN today announced the launch of new DVI- and USB-based KVM extenders that complement the company's comprehensive line of space-saving extenders. The new CE600/CE602 KVM Extenders, utilizing CAT5e cabling, allow users to control a server, computer or KVM switch from a remote console (USB keyboard, monitor and mouse). The CE600/CE602 extenders are ideal in a range of installations such as manufacturing, security, healthcare and more. In industrial environments, for example, users can access and configure computers located in hazardous environments from a remote, safe location.

"While alternative software tools have been introduced over the years, KVM extender technology continues to remain a valuable tool for many organizations that require secure access to a computer or server from a remote console," explained James Hsieh, CEO of ATEN. "We are committed to expanding our roster of KVM extenders with new and innovative features such as support for DVI. The new CE600/CE602 KVM extenders are also useful for security purposes where users can control highly confidential data systems located in a secure location from a convenient remote location."

In addition to industrial environments, the CE600/CE602 KVM extenders are also applicable in retail stores and restaurants where touchscreen kiosks and barcode scanners can be accessed using the units' built-in RS-232 serial port. The new KVM extenders also support high video resolutions from long distances and feature an exclusive ATEN technology that enables the transmission of audio and video signals over one CAT5e cable.

Leveraging CAT5e cabling between the local and remote units, the CE600 supports video resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200@60Hz at a distance of 30 meters (Single Link DVI).  ADD:  ATEN CE600/CE602 provides real time high quality DVI single/dual link single to the remote side.  For resolutions as high as 2560 x 1600@60Hz from 40 meters (Dual Link DVI), the CE602 can be utilized when combined with a second CAT5e cable for the transfer of HDCP, RS-232, microphone and dual-link signals. Additionally, both models support manual compensation control in which users can adjust video signal strength in order to compensate for distance.

Other key features of the CE600/CE602 KVM Extenders:

        cable
