Taking the Wait Out of Your Doctor's Waiting Room

CHICAGO, Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether you're a mom with sick children, a busy executive with high cholesterol, or you suffer from a chronic illness, people are frustrated by waiting at the doctor's office. Waiting around - sometimes for several hours - causes anxiety for patients, and can even discourage them from seeking medical attention. But now there's a solution.

A new website takes the wait out of the waiting room. Available free of charge to any patient seeing any physician in the United States, WaitChecker is a revolutionary new tool that helps reduce the time people spend waiting for doctors' appointments. The service enables patients to find out whether or not their doctor is running on time before they head to an appointment.

Jamie is a 29-year-old Chicago resident who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 13. Because of her lifelong condition, she visits the doctor several times each month.

"Almost always I find myself waiting 30 to 45 minutes for the doctor," says Jamie. "That gets really difficult to handle with a full-time job and a family."

Recently, Jamie used WaitChecker to check her doctor's wait time status before leaving the office for an appointment.

"It was very helpful," she says. "I learned that the doctor was running 25 minutes behind. I knew exactly what to expect, so I had my husband pick up our baby boy from daycare."

How does WaitChecker work? Patients simply go to http://www.WaitChecker.com prior to their next appointment, enter their physician's name, appointment date and time, and their cell phone number or email address. WaitChecker does the rest.

Patients receive an email and text message prior to their appointment alerting them to any delay.  This enables patients to make the best use of their time, rather than spending it sitting in the waiting room.
