Private WiFi Now Comes with Connectivity Tests in Latest Software Release

Private WiFi has released a new version of their software that includes Connectivity Tests, which help users determine the source of any connection problems they may encounter

SHERMAN, Conn., Sept. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Private WiFi, a young and innovative company in the wireless security software market, has just released the latest version of their software. This release includes an exciting new feature called Connectivity Tests, which helps users troubleshoot any connection issues they may have when running Private WiFi.

When a user runs Private WiFi and no connection can be established between the application and the Private WiFi servers, the Connectivity Tests feature automatically runs and provides important information to the user so they can diagnose the connection problem. For example, the user's computer may not be connected to a WiFi network, so the Connectivity Tests feature will present the user with a message which tells them to check their connection to ensure it is working properly.

The Connectivity Tests feature empowers users by giving them necessary information about the source of any connection issues they may be experiencing. With this information, users can quickly identify the source of the problem, and easily fix it.

"Connectivity Tests gives the power back to where it belongs, in the user's hands," says Kent Lawson, Private WiFi's CEO. "With this tool, they will be able to diagnose and resolve any connection issues they might have when using Private WiFi."

About Public WiFi Security Risks

Public WiFi usage has been increasing exponentially in recent years due to its convenience and accessibility. It has become so easy to go online from just about anywhere: coffee shops, airports, public libraries and hotel rooms, among many other places. However, many people, although desire computer privacy, are not aware the security concerns inherent in using a public WiFi network.

WiFi networks do not use physical cables to connect PCs to one another. Instead, they use radio waves. This means that when you hook up to a public network, you are basically exposing your PC or notebook files, including personal data such as credit card information, passwords, and social security number, to anyone within that network. This development has led to a new type of hacking called "sniffing." Sniffers are computer tools that don't need physical access to your computer. With suitable software easily available on the Internet, hackers can use sniffing tools to steal any unencrypted data on a public WiFi network. It might even be the guy drinking his coffee at the table right next to you.
