ShowStoppers @ IFA 2011 Previews New Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances to International Journalists

ShowStoppers organizes IFA activities for US journalists, briefing with US Ambassador to Germany

BERLIN, Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Established and emerging tech companies previewed hundreds of new products for work, home and play at ShowStoppers @ IFA 2011, the official press event of IFA, the global tradeshow for consumer electronics and home appliances. IFA took place September 2-7 in Berlin, Germany.

The fourth annual ShowStoppers @ IFA staged product introductions, sneak previews and demonstrations for top journalists and industry analysts tracking news from IFA.

Working with IFA, ShowStoppers also organized a range of activities for U.S. journalists traveling to Berlin to cover the tradeshow - including a meeting with Philip Murphy, U.S. Ambassador to Germany, and helping to mesh product demonstrations and executive interviews with press activities separately organized by Ford Motor Company and Samsung.

"Supporting US exporters is job 1," said Ambassador Murphy, after meeting US exhibitors and journalists at IFA. "IFA is of particular importance to us. It draws bright startup companies entering the tech world -- and startups are the heart and soul of America's innovative strength. IFA is fabulous equally as a showcase of American products -- to determine market trends, gauge global demand, and simply test-market products. I encourage American firms of all sizes to enter this market and take advantage of the Gold Key Program and other support services offered by the U.S. Commercial Service. Lastly, as Ambassador, I am privileged and honored to meet, get-acquainted with, and encourage as many American companies as possible at events such as IFA."

giga.de, Revision3, Dave Graveline's "Into Tomorrow" and BNETtv.com were at ShowStoppers conducting interviews and broadcasting live coverage from the showcase event.

"ShowStoppers is very intimate event, almost being among friends," said Tom Fuchs, chief revenue officer and senior production coordinator for giga.de, a video news network based in Germany. "The organizers gave us the opportunity to meet important people from many international brands face to face and broadcast directly to our massively tech crazy community audience on giga.de and YouTube in a really relaxing atmosphere."

"Revision3 was able to bring the amazing and extensive IFA show to viewers across the US - and around the world," said Jim Louderback, chief executive officer of Revision3, a global video network. "Our live stream from ShowStoppers and the show floor really gave our audience the experience of 'being there,' and we produced a variety of episodes focused on all the great new products from the show."

The number of exhibitors at this year's ShowStoppers doubled to include companies from around the globe, including, among others, Audio-Technica, the China Household Electric Appliance Research Institute, Cloud Engines, Emporia Telecom, Etymotic Research, Invoxia, iRobot, Opera, Plantronics, RealNetworks, Rovi, Seagate, Texas Instruments, Tivoli Audio, TransferJet Consortium and Zero1.tv.

"This is the first time Ford has participated at IFA and at ShowStoppers @ IFA," said Christof Kellerwessel, chief engineer, Ford Motor Company. "Involvement in the show highlights Ford's increasing role as a leader in automotive technology. Ford together with its technology partners, including Gracenote, NAVTEQ, Nuance Communications and TeleNav are at IFA to talk about SYNC, which connects your Ford vehicle to your digital lifestyle."

"Whilst ViewSonic is working heavily with localised channel partners, ShowStoppers allows us to communicate to the core PR audience efficiently to our timescales, allowing us to scale up or down the experience as required," said James Coulson, head of marketing in Europe for ViewSonic. "Such is the value of ShowStoppers, we are exclusively showing our new Viewpad 7x and 7e tablets, the much anticipated V350 dual SIM Android phone and a selection of new 3D and 2D displays that continue to allow our customers to truly 'see the difference.'"
