The iPhone Just Became a Life Saver: Global Alert Network's Must-Have Free Alert App Now Available for Download

Free Hyper-Local Alert Service Now Offered on All Major Mobile Devices

NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The iPhone, one of the most relied upon devices for getting information, connecting with your friends, and listening to music, can now be used to receive life-saving alerts.  Today, Global Alert Network (GAN) announced that its free, hyper-local alert audio application is now available for download in the iTunes App Store.

The GAN app provides audio alerts that are geo-targeted to the user's location ensuring timely, accurate information about traffic incidents, weather conditions, certain emergency notifications such as Amber Alerts, or other future services to which the user subscribes.

"There is huge demand for Apple products right now - the iPhone market represents nearly 25 percent of the Smartphone community. We are excited to debut our app to these users and expand our customer base," said Scott Hughes, President of Global Alert Network. "The GAN app was created as a channel to help people in every day life - from easing their commutes and making sure they have their umbrellas in the morning, to alerting them about Amber Alerts and potentially saving lives.  The app has seen such a great response from BlackBerry and Android users to date, we wanted to expand this service to include the millions of iPhone users out there so they can benefit too."

To download the application, users can search for "Global Alert Network" in the App Store and download instantaneously. After the account is created, the application runs in the background and 'wakes up' to present alerts and information based upon the preferences of the user.  Once the iPhone user hears the tone alerting him or her to an important traffic or weather alert, that person simply unlocks the device and the alert plays automatically. Traffic alerts are sent out to users based on a driver's route and location and weather alerts can be selected by users when they indicate their current location or areas of interest.

GAN is a free application that generates revenues from selling brief, advertisements to run within the alerts.  This effective form of advertising ensures that 100% of ads are heard by the app users, offering great benefit to GAN's advertising partners.

Global Alert Network's content partners include: Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network and AccuWeather.com. Alerts currently available include traffic, weather and certain local emergency information such as Amber alerts. The Company plans to expand its content channels to include sports and news as well.

Global Alert Network is now free to download in the App Store and is also available on Blackberry and Android devices through AppWorld and Android Market.
