Texas Instruments Prepares Students to Go Back to School with Line of Calculators and Handhelds

Color-Display TI-Nspire CX Handheld, TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator and TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator help Students Gear up for Math, Science

DALLAS, Aug. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The lessons learned in mathematics and science classes last spring may not help students figure out how to stretch their summer vacation a few days longer. However, calculators and handheld learning tools from Texas Instruments will help outfit 7-12th graders for their fall classes.

Texas Instruments fall line of fashionable calculators and learning tools help outfit students for the new school year in style.

New Color-Display TI-Nspire(TM) CX and TI-Nspire CX CAS Handhelds

Texas Instruments is bringing a new spectrum of learning tools to math and science students for back to school with the introduction of its new backlit, color-display TI-Nspire(TM) CX and TI-Nspire CX CAS handhelds. The TI-Nspire CX handhelds, with their 16-bit, 320 x 240 pixel high resolution color display, help students better visualize math and science concepts.

Students can now more clearly interpret data, charts and graphs. With this display, teachers and students can see sharp, full-color images and animations, which help them to better connect complex concepts to real-world learning. The new 3D graphing capabilities enable students to explore graphs from multiple points of view to develop deeper conceptual understanding.

The TI-Nspire CX handheld is permitted for use on the SAT*, AP*, PSAT/NSMQT*, IB®, and ACT® college entrance exams, as well as many state standardized tests. Students can download sample SAT and ACT test questions for TI-Nspire technology.

The new TI-Nspire CX handhelds offer a sleeker, slimmer profile and include a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. At retail, the TI-Nspire CX handheld comes bundled with TI-Nspire Student Software for home use.

TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator

The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator helps students graph equations in pre-algebra through calculus classes. Because the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator comes in several shades of pink and blue as well as other colors, students can do their homework in style.

The latest operating system update features MathPrint(TM), so students can input and view math symbols, formulas and stacked fractions exactly as they appear in textbooks. A new Stats Wizard prompts students for values such as mean, median or mode as they work through various statistical functions.

Students can also download sample SAT and ACT test questions for the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator. Like the TI-Nspire CX handheld, the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator is permitted for use during the SAT*, AP*, ACT®, IB®, and PSAT/NSMQT*, as well as on many state standardized tests.

Scientific Calculators

The TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator,TI's newest and most advanced scientific calculator, features a high-quality MultiView(TM) display and MathPrint(TM) capability. The MultiView display enables users to view multiple calculations at the same time, compare results and explore patterns on-screen. Enhanced math functionality makes the TI-36X Pro scientific calculator ideal for computer science and engineering courses. It also can be used in high school and college mathematics classes where graphing calculators are not used.

The new TI-36X Pro scientific calculator lets users select among three mathematical problem solvers - numeric equation, polynomial and system of linear equations. This means students have more tools for learning and exploring math and science concepts.

The TI-36X Pro scientific calculator enables users to determine the numeric derivative and integral for real functions. Users also can readily perform one- and two-variable analysis, and display six different regression models. The TI-36X Pro scientific calculator includes a vector and matrix entry window feature similar to the matrix functionality of graphing calculators.

The TI-30X IIS scientific calculator is perfect for students who want to add personality to their back-to-school gear. The two-line display scientific calculator combines statistics and advanced scientific functions and adds a splash of color to the classroom. This year's fashionable colors include pink, blue, green and orange.
