Calling 2012 Presidential Hopefuls: Votocracy Launches as Social Media Platform Enabling Any American to Run for President; Finalists to Compete on National TV for Chance at Presidential Ticket

Votocracy enables you to "like" someone onto a national reality show and perhaps into the White House

SEATTLE, June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The reach of social media and popularity of reality shows have helped turn housewives into celebrities and ink multi-million dollar music deals for talented hopefuls. Rolling out today a new social media platform, Votocracy (http://www.Votocracy.com), looks to harness the power and wisdom of the crowd in a national casting call for the President of the United States. Encouraging all 200+ million voting-age Americans to get off the political sidelines and into the running for president, Votocracy aspires to equalize the political process and change the way we seek out, nominate and elect public officials.Eventually culminating in a nationally-televised reality show, Votocracy makes running for office accessible and fun.

"Could a social media platform and reality show really elect our next president?  Absolutely!" declares Bryan Lee, founder and CEO of Votocracy. "Votocracy give Americans from any walk of life, not just career politicians or billionaires, a real chance to become the first presidential candidate from the ground up."

Any man, woman or teen of voting age in the U.S. can become a Votocracy participant and join in daily interactive polls and contribute funds to friends, colleagues or mentors they believe should make a run for the White House. And for as little as $1, those participants can start to campaign with Votocracy and gain access to potential supporters through social media networks, national advertising campaigns, Votocracy's online community, and through offline events. Interested candidates register if they want to spark serious change, compete in a friendly rivalry or grab their "15 minutes of fame" on national television. Regardless of the motive, Votocracy makes it easy and fun to participate - whether just testing the waters of a presidential campaign or launching a serious bid for the White House.

To take advantage of Votocracy and participate fully in this political social network - and to become an official Votocracy candidate - participants pay only a $99 registration fee. This payment provides full access to the current platform and allows candidates to post viewpoints on their candidacy and the main Votocracy walls, interact with other presidential hopefuls on important issues, upload impactful videos, instantly message supporters to share updates, create personalized campaign apparel, and even detail the changes they'd make in their first 30 days within the Oval Office. The Votocracy platform will continue to expand over the coming months to include issues tabs and mobile phone applications.

In short, Votocracy presidential candidates don't need deep pockets, years of political experience or notoriety - they just need the drive to compete and a passion for change - and a political platform to elevate their visibility.

Effective campaigning will ensure candidates have the support needed to secure votes during the Votocracy state primaries. The Votocracy primaries will be held in each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia - for a total of 51. These primaries will begin with a general vote by that state's residents for that state's top seven candidates. The seven finalists from the initial general vote will then compete in another round of voting the following day; then the top six candidates will compete in another runoff vote the next day. This week-long voting process continues until the final two candidates meet in a final state primary runoff vote, which coincides with the date of the actual state primary or caucus.

State finalists then compete to become America's favorite presidential candidate via a nationally-televised reality show. The most popular Votocracy candidate will now be ready to hit the campaign trail running after the primaries, with the notoriety and financial campaign support to make them a viable candidate in the progression toward the White House.

"I have the utmost faith in the American people," adds Lee. "And I believe that the final Votocracy candidate will be one that intrigues and inspires us all. In addition to capturing America's votes, they will have captured our hearts and our minds along the way."
