Pixable Brings Its Photofeed App to the iPhone

Photofeed app brings elegant discovery and engagement to social photos via the iPhone; allows viewers to get in, get out, and get on with their lives

NEW YORK, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pixable (http://www.pixable.com), the leader in online photo aggregation, has announced the release of its Photofeed app for the iPhone. This app allows people to easily discover, view, and interact with the millions of photos on the most popular photo networks - from the comfort and mobility of their iPhone.

Photofeed for the iPhone aggregates photos from Facebook, Flickr and Instagram - just as it has done for its popular Facebook and iPad apps. Images are organized into categories such as "Popular Photos of the Week," "Popular Photos of the Day," "New Profile Pics," "Top Instagram Photos" and "Top Flickr Photos." iPhone's push notifications alert users whenever their friends post new photo activity. The notifications let them quickly "get in and get out," and they never miss a picture.

Photofeed for the iPhone requires no new social networks to be built, no location to be set, and no new "friending" to get started. It's the only photo sharing app that gives users instant access to hundreds of thousands of photos they care about when they log in for the first time.

"Today, everything is mobile, but people spend so much time with their heads buried in their phones," said Inaki Berenguer, CEO, Pixable. "People want quick access to photos, and the ability to quickly comment, like, or share them. We've focused on making the Pixable iPhone app about getting in, getting out, and getting on with your life."

The heart of Pixable Photofeed is its WonderRank (patent pending) technology, which analyzes dozens of variables associated with a Facebook account, to act as a personal "photobot" scouring Facebook for the photos that users will find most interesting. This targeted experience is enhanced by the ability to "follow" friends, and receive notifications when they comment on, are tagged in, or upload new photos. This is key for anyone looking to keep up with happenings in their social circle like parties, weddings, newborn babies, or travel adventures.

Pixable Photofeed launched in January 2011 in public beta as a free app available to all Facebook users. Since then, Photofeed has sorted and ranked over 10 billion photos for more than 300,000 users and added versions for the iPad and iPhone. Pixable helps its users aggregate and organize photos from a variety photo sharing sites across their networks, with plans to add more photo sources in the future.
