Slacker Radio Announces New Latin Stations

New Slacker Latin Stations Programmed By Industry Veterans and Latin Music Experts

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Slacker, Inc. today announced the launch of four newly revamped Latin stations - Regional Mexican, Spanish Pop, Reggeaton/HipHop and Rock Alternativo programmed by Slacker's new expert Latin music DJs, Alex Cortez and Jackie Madrigal. The new programmers come to Slacker Radio with decades of radio and industry experience and an in-depth knowledge of the full spectrum of Latin music and Spanish-language radio. The newly updated Slacker Radio Latin stations are available for free on the web, on home entertainment devices and all leading smartphones.

Alex Cortez is an industry expert, with over 15 years of experience as a record executive and developer of radio stations. He currently serves as Executive of Radio Promotions for Warner Brothers Reprise Records. Alex programs the Hip Hop/Reggaeton and Rock Alternativo stations for Slacker Radio. Hip Hop/Reggaeton radio plays the latest and greatest in this Latin-influenced urban genre with music that includes reggaeton, bachata, hip-hop, pop, R&B and dance while Rock Alternativo covers a range of genres from today's Latin Alternative Rock.

"I'm not only a programmer on Slacker, I am also a fan," said Alex Cortez, Latin station programmer at Slacker Radio. "I truly love the music I program on my stations - both Rock/Alternativo and HipHop/Reggaeton. Artists write music to emotionally attach themselves to the fan, and Slacker is the perfect extension of the artist."

Jackie Madrigal is a Latin music and Spanish-language radio expert. In the past 10 years, she has served as Format Editor and Editor-in-Chief at two national music/radio industry publications: Radio & Records and Radio y Musica. She currently works with ERG Music and Lunchbox, as well as other industry related companies. Jackie is also a contributor to Cafe Magazine and other publications. Jackie programs the Regional Mexican and Spanish Pop stations on Slacker Radio. Regional Mexican showcases the hits of traditional Mexican Music featuring Norteno, Banda, Ranchera, Duranguense and other styles of Mexican music while Spanish Pop plays the hottest Latin Hit music from today's top Latin pop stars.

"I am beyond delighted to join Slacker, the best and most innovative online radio outlet for all formats, including Latin," said Jackie Madrigal, Latin programmer for Slacker Radio. "Music and radio have always been my passion, and I'm fortunate enough to have worked in the industry for over a decade. I'm very excited to bring my expertise in Latin radio and music to Slacker, and help give the listeners of our Spanish Pop and Regional Mexican stations an awesome listening experience."

The Slacker music experience includes the ability to create custom music stations based on a favorite song, artist or mix of artists, or listen to and personalize over 130 expert-programmed genre, seasonal and spotlight stations. With a music catalog that is over four times the leading competitor, Slacker gives listeners the ultimate music discovery resource by providing artist biographies and images as well as album reviews and art.
