Numerex Addresses Industry's Data Privacy and Document Management Needs

ATLANTA, Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Numerex Corp (Nasdaq: NMRX), a leading single source provider of secure machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services, announces that it is leveraging its M2M platforms to address the rapidly growing needs of the enterprise equipment and document management market.  The related customer applications, currently in beta trials, use wireless technologies, sensors and other detection devices already widely deployed by Numerex in environments with similar tracking requirements.

"Fueled by a number of data privacy-related laws and regulations, the document management market, which includes the secure storage and destruction of critical information, is growing by leaps and bounds around the world," said Sam Lucero, M2M Research Director at ABI Research. "It represents a growing source of opportunities for M2M players."  More details on this expanding market can currently be found in ABI Research's "M2M Market Data" product which is updated quarterly. Forthcoming research will further support this growth as well.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) of 1999, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) of 2003, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) of 2004, the Canadian Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of 2000 and the European Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46 EC) are examples of the wide array of national and international laws and regulations governing the protection of private information.  Numerex technology and solutions are well adapted to meet these security obligations.

"In addition to being a good business practice, securely and efficiently controlling sensitive documents throughout the chain of custody is critical in industries facing stringent legal and regulatory compliance requirements," said Stratton J. Nicolaides, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Numerex.  "Our emphasis on real-time monitoring and information security resonates well in this particular market. Numerex's platforms provide a sound nexus for serving emerging and promising markets of which enterprise equipment and document management is one of the most notable examples. Thanks to our global network coverage, we are progressively making our M2M development and deployment capabilities available to a wide range of industries."
