PEMCO Welcomes 'Oblivious Left-Lane Occupant' and Other New Northwest Profiles

Facebook Fans Get Sneak Preview Feb. 4

SEATTLE, Jan. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- You've likely seen these drivers puttering along in the left lane of Northwest freeways going just under the speed limit, seemingly unaware of the traffic jam building behind them.  "Oblivious Left-Lane Occupant" is the newest member of PEMCO Insurance's "We're A Lot Like You. A Little Different." ad campaign.

Since 2007, the Washington-based insurer has delighted Northwest residents with an ad campaign featuring profiles that pay tribute to the quirks familiar to those who live in the Pacific Northwest.  Since the campaign launched, the host of recognizable types has grown to include more than 50 profiles of Northwest friends and neighbors.

Joining the "Oblivious Left-Lane Occupant" this year are four additional new Northwest Profiles, all regionally inspired and dedicated to celebrating the values that make this area a little different.  Among them are "Goosebumped Beach Bum," "Urban Chicken Farmer," "Type 'A' Yoga Girl," and "The Honker."

"We enjoy unveiling the newest members of our 'We're A Lot Like You' campaign.  This year, we're offering our Facebook fans a special preview of the newest TV ad featuring the 'Goosebumped Beach Bum,' which debuts on our Facebook page Feb. 4," said PEMCO spokesperson Jon Osterberg. "If you're not yet a fan, go to our Facebook page, 'Like' us, and take a sneak peek at the newest ad when it's revealed Feb. 4."

Northwest beach-goers will surely relate to Northwest Profile #38, "Goosebumped Beach Bum." Around here, locals know it takes an optimist to brave Northwest beaches. He's someone who doesn't mind the four and a half hours of showers, drizzle, fog, and generally borderline-freezing conditions if it means five minutes of pure, unadulterated sun.

Perhaps city-dwellers will recognize Northwest Profile #6, "Urban Chicken Farmer," who's easily spotted amidst a flurry of feathers, nestled into a comfortable city home.  This Northwest original enjoys the best of both worlds: metropolitan and country. Urban and rural. Paved streets and fresh eggs. Sure, most of her dog and cat-loving friends will razz her about having chickens for pets. But when was the last time a golden retriever ever made breakfast?

Also new to the mix is "Type 'A' Yoga Girl," Northwest Profile #2. The moment her meeting ends, she's off - with hair in a ponytail and a yoga mat wrapped so tightly under her arm it'd take two downward-facing dogs to rip it away from her.

"The Honker" is Northwest Profile #98.  For most of us, the car horn is simply the spot on the steering wheel where the manufacturer places its logo. Never would we consider actually pushing down on it. But "The Honker" is a different breed.  He's usually spotted post-beep, with an itchy trigger palm and undealt-with anger, listening to track eight of his self-help CD.

And of course, there's Profile #51, "Oblivious Left-Lane Occupant," who thinks "stay right except to pass" is merely a suggestion.

Fans of the campaign can see the advanced screening of the newest Northwest Profile TV ad by visiting http://www.facebook.com/PEMCOInsurance on Feb. 4.  In the meantime, you'll find a more detailed look at these new profiles at http://www.werealotlikeyou.com, or hear them on radios across the state.
