Visteon Enhances How Drivers Interact With Increasing Array of Features in Vehicles
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation (OTC: VSTO) is highlighting its industry-leading solutions for improving how drivers interact with features in their vehicles at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Jan. 6-9.

With vehicle feature content rapidly increasing and more technology becoming standard, automotive user interface design (menu logic, graphics and physical controls) is becoming increasingly important to mitigate driver distraction.
However, as consumers demand more engaging and intuitive user interfaces, auto manufacturers are looking to develop human machine interaction (HMI) and user experiences that are aligned with and reinforce their vehicle brands. Addressing this need, Visteon has developed a new range of high-definition graphic display platforms, physical control interface solutions and supporting HMI tool chains that bring together the software, graphics and physical elements. These enhancements, which can be reconfigured for specific vehicle applications, can greatly reduce auto manufacturer development times while increasing design flexibility.
Vehicle manufacturers are trying to reduce system complexity on global platforms while addressing the desire for regional variances. Visteon has developed a "plug-and-play" flexible HMI gateway that can interact with a range of physical interfaces in the vehicle - from traditional knobs, buttons and touch screens to more advanced solutions including programmable haptics and gesture recognition.
For the premium vehicle market, Visteon is introducing an HD graphics platform that brings leading-edge consumer electronic graphics into the car with sharper and crisper images. The new Visteon platform brings together consumer electronics (CE) micro-technology from Freescale and a market-leading CE user interface development tool. This unique automotive-grade solution enables vehicle manufacturers to design graphics on a PC and port concepts directly onto the platform.
