Global Cellular announced its newest product today, the GlobalSIM.
Essentially the GlobalSIM allows travelers to take a prepaid SIM card in
their unlocked cell phone and make calls from almost any location in the
world.
"We are providing a SIM card that works in over 175 countries where in 80
of them the incoming calls are absolutely free. This changes the rules of the
game entirely," says Dani Drutman, VP Product Development. "People no longer
have to buy temporary SIM cards that become irrelevant after time. They pay a
small one time purchase fee and keep the line for life." Drutman continues to
say that they have sold thousands of the product already, "We have spent a
lot of time and research on this product and are ecstatic with the results."
The GlobalSIM is a no brainer. All anyone needs is an Unlocked GSM phone.
A traveler simply puts the SIM card in their phone and starts dialing. In the
past, travelers who wanted to take a cell phone with them to their
destination would have to contact their provider in advance and pay high fees
to activate roaming in an attempt to get a better deal. In many cases the
fees were not known to the customer until they returned to find hundreds and
sometimes thousands of dollars worth of roaming charges waiting for them.
