TechServe Alliance Applauds Reauthorization of America COMPETES Act

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the House of Representatives passed the final version of the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2010, which was earlier passed by the Senate and will now go to the President's desk for signature.

"We are pleased that Congress is investing in education in critical areas such as math and science, helping us build the workforce of tomorrow. It is important that our students have the skills needed to work with the emerging technologies that will be driving the economy in the years to come," stated Mark Roberts, CEO TechServe Alliance.

As has been well documented, long-term, the U.S. faces a shortage of highly skilled technical professionals. TechServe Alliance supports public policy initiatives that seek to increase the availability and attractiveness of education and training for U.S. workers in high-tech fields. In addition to the importance of these efforts to the U.S. economy as a whole, a qualified workforce, which is able to meet current and future IT needs, is critical to the continued success of the IT services industry.
