AvatronĀ® Software's Print Sharing App Lets iPad, iPhone and iPod touch Users Print Wirelessly to Any Mac- or Linux-Connected Printer

Avatron's Latest App, Just $2.99 Via Apple App Store, Gives Mac Users Shared Printer Support Plus Advanced Features Including Print Preview, Dual-Sided Printing and More

PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- AvatronĀ® Software, a leading developer of popular applications for the Apple IOS platform, announced the release of its latest app, Print Sharing, which allows iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users to print wirelessly from their mobile device. While other apps offer printing capabilities, Print Sharing is the most focused and powerful app of its kind.

"As people increasingly use their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad for work or other important daily tasks, the need to be able to print information has become clear," said Dave Howell, CEO of Avatron Software. "Print Sharing is the only app on the market that prints from your mobile device to a wide range of printers -- including shared and network-based printers. Print Sharing does all this and more, giving people most of the printing features they're used to at home or at the office."

With Print Sharing, owners can print wirelessly to any printer connected to a Mac that is printer sharing enabled, or to a Linux machine that is configured with CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System). In addition to its own printing capabilities, Print Sharing supports Apple's AirPrint, allowing users to print wirelessly to any of a list of select HP printers directly, whether or not they are connected to a PC. The full list of HP printers supported by AirPrint can be found at http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html.

Depending on the printer being used, Print Sharing delivers advanced printing settings such as dual-sided printing, toner density, special inks, watermarks and overlays, choice of paper trays, page order, finishing/binding. "Print preview" is available on all printers.

Print Sharing works with virtually any Apple app. In Mail, Safari or other apps, simply select a document, tap the "Open in Print Sharing" button, select the printer and print. Alternatively, you can select an image or plain text, and then choose Copy and launch Print Sharing. Print Sharing will automatically recognize that there is something on the pasteboard, letting the user print it.

"Print Sharing is the most streamlined printing application for Apple mobile devices on the market," Howell noted. "The large number of supported printers and the ability to print to shared printers makes the app totally unique."

Print Sharing is available now for just $2.99 in the App Store. Within its first week of being released, Print Sharing was already one of the top-grossing paid iPad Utility apps. The product is part of Avatron's highly acclaimed family of productivity apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad that includes Air Display, Air Sharing Pro and Air Sharing HD.
