Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority Launches New Website

More robust site completed as Authority begins construction on $700 million Phase 2A project

MONROVIA, Calif., Dec. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority (Construction Authority) announces the launch of its new website - http://www.foothillextension.org.

The new site is intended to capture the aesthetic essence of the San Gabriel Valley in its design; while providing ease in navigation, robust information sharing, dynamic community calendar features, upgraded media content and more.

"Our new site was designed to be a one-stop shop of information about the program of projects underway at the Construction Authority," stated Habib F. Balian, CEO of the Construction Authority.  "Community members, elected officials and others will now be able to easily access the latest construction notices, meeting announcements, and more for Phases 2A (Pasadena to Azusa), 2B (Glendora to Montclair) and Phase 2C (Ontario Airport Extension)."

The new website has been designed to provide the latest tools to facilitate information sharing in a quick and easy to use format. These include all-new pages for each construction phase of the project, a "Media Resources" page with project fact sheets, logos, maps and press releases; a redesigned  "Headlines" page with relevant news stories and coverage; and an all new "Videos" page which contains multiple videos created by and relevant to the project. Each corridor city (from Los Angeles to Ontario) continues to have a page on the site, which includes important links to community specific information, and contact information is now available for all Construction Authority staff.

The site was designed by local marketing and design firm Pasadena Advertising, located in Pasadena, California.

About the Construction Authority

The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority is an independent transportation planning and construction agency created in 1999 by the California state legislature. Its purpose is to plan, design and construct the Metro Gold Line light rail line from Union Station to the San Bernardino County Line. The first phase completed by the Construction Authority opened in 2003, connecting downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena.

Los Angeles County's Measure R half-cent sales tax increase will fully fund Phase 2A - the segment between Pasadena and Azusa. Additional funding is needed to complete the line's future planned extensions to Montclair and LA/Ontario International Airport (both extensions are currently under study).

More information about the project, Construction Authority and current procurements can be found on the Construction Authority's website - http://www.foothillextension.org.
