Anti-Defamation League, Cal State East Bay Partner on Youth Summit Dec. 6 to Prevent Bullying, Cyberbullying, Prejudice, Discrimination
NEW YORK, Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Every day thousands of children are bullied in school and online. The Anti-Defamation League is leading a Bay Area initiative - in partnership with California State University, East Bay - to empower students, teachers, parents and concerned community members to stop this alarming trend.
On Monday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., nearly 100 students from around the Bay Area will gather at the university's downtown Oakland Center for Youth Summit 2010. Using visual examples, the students will be role-playing as part of examining issues of prejudice, discrimination and learning how to be more effective in the fight against bullying and hatred.

Directing the Youth Summit 2010 is Nina Simone Grotch, who runs the educational programs of the Anti-Defamation League's Central Pacific Region. She has more than 20 years of experience facilitating interactive workshops for children, youth, and parents and teachers. As the Associate Director, Ms. Grotch is responsible for designing and facilitating anti-bias workshops for community groups, schools, and youth groups about issues of prejudice and discrimination. She has presented at numerous conferences for educators, youth, police officers, and parents on combating hate and creating safe school environments. Ms. Grotch has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English Literature.
