AHAlife.com Collaborates With The Girl Scout Council of Greater New York this Thanksgiving To Benefit The Career Exploration Program

New Yorkers will receive the gift of a box of Girl Scout cookies just in time for the holidays

NEW YORK, Nov. 24, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, AHAlife.com, the website that features one-of-a-kind items from the worlds of fashion, food, art, lifestyle, design, and more is partnering with the Girl Scouts of New York City on an exclusive opportunity to benefit the Girl Scouts Career Exploration Program.  For a minimum donation of $25, AHAlife members will support an inspiring program which provides mentoring opportunities and invites strong, accomplished women - from leaders of industry to innovators in their field - to speak to and encourage these Girl Scouts to achieve their goals. As a special thank you for their donation, AHAlife members will receive their choice of a box of Girl Scout cookies that AHALife purchased from Girl Scouts in New York City.

For one week only, users can log onto AHAlife.com, from Wednesday, November 24, through Tuesday, November 30, to donate a minimum of $25 towards the Career Exploration Program.  As a "Thank You," AHAlife will allow supporters to choose from six popular flavors including Do-Si-Dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Lemon Chalet Cremes, and Thin Mints. And for those who want to keep on giving, there is a seventh option which allows donors to forego their box of cookies and, instead, have them donated directly to our US Troops. This unique initiative will allow New Yorkers to receive Girl Scout cookies before anyone else, just in time for the holiday season.

"I am so excited to partner with Girl Scouts of New York City to support the Career Exploration Program. During my visit to the South Bronx where I spoke to many of these young, ambitious girls, I realized just how important it was to keep the message of following our dreams alive. I am proud to be affiliated with such an inspiring organization and encourage everyone to participate in the offer. If for nothing else, who can resist those hard-to-get Girl Scout cookies - the ultimate incentive to give back this holiday season!"

"We are changing the fate of so many young girls by providing them with early exposure to various career paths, instilling leadership development skills, and heightening their self-esteem so that they become confident and courageous young women today and self-sufficient women in the future," said Dawn Nolan, Acting CEO, Girl Scout Council of Greater New York.  "We are thankful for AHALife's partnership in helping us to spread the word about this program."

The money raised for the Career Exploration program, started by the Girl Scouts of New York City, will benefit more than 1,200 students in the New York City area, with a focus on five schools in the South Bronx.  Inspiring these young women to continue their education in a region where the graduation rate for students from some schools can be as low as 12%, this program provides a unique opportunity for young women to hear inspiring stories of achievement - and what it takes to get there - from women who have made it themselves.
