DataCore Showcases Storage Virtualization Benefits at SNW Europe, Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World 2010: Virtualization is 3-Dimensional

DataCore at SNW Europe / Datacenter Technologies / Virtualization World 2010

FRANKFURT, Germany, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Power of 3" is the mantra behind the joint event SNW Europe/Datacenter Technologies/Virtualization World 2010, with the main billing going to virtualization: the virtualization of servers, desktops and storage. DataCore Software, one of the leading providers of storage virtualization, will showcase its virtualization and high-availability software solutions SANmelody(TM) and SANsymphony(TM) and highlight these field-proven solutions that have been deployed at thousands of customer sites - in combination with virtual servers and desktops - to an international audience at Booth 40. SNW Europe and co-located conferences Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World will be held this year on 26th and 27th October 2010 at Congress Frankfurt.

"Storage virtualization is the perfect complement for virtual desktops and servers," explains Alexander Best, Technical Business Development EMEA, DataCore Software. "Our software enhances new and existing storage hardware and turns it into an efficient and non-stop shared storage solution for Citrix, Hyper-V, VMware environments. DataCore's multi-functional platforms provide critical storage services such as thin provisioning of capacity across different brands of storage, along with high availability for business continuity and performance acceleration. Beyond that, DataCore's flexible software approach enables optimization for a huge range of application scenarios, such as disaster recovery issues, continuous data protection, SSD acceleration or compliant archiving in virtual environments. At SNW Europe, DataCore will provide an insight into current technology developments."  With his presentation called "Virtualization is 3-dimensional," Mr. Best will introduce various virtualization scenarios with DataCore Software to the international audience. The presentation takes place in room "Harmonie D" on Wednesday, October 27(th) from 11.35 - 12:05.

The three events parallel the three dimensions of virtualization and the three dominant hypervisor platforms (Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware) for which DataCore is providing cost-effective, highly available and high-performance storage services. "Today, the combination of server virtualization with Microsoft Hyper-V and the storage services provided by SANmelody storage virtualization make DataCore an integral part of our IT strategy," notes Falko Gieldanowski, Head of Informatics at Regional Hospital Emmental AG. With the virtual infrastructure, the hospital is saving hardware, energy and administration costs. At another installation, Plakanda Management AG, Clem Albert, relies on Citrix and DataCore. "By implementing SANmelody in our Citrix XenServer and Citrix Essentials for XenServer environment, we benefit from DataCore's dynamic storage management by reducing the administration effort and reducing long-term costs of storage expansion," he states.

DataCore has more than 20,000 installations deployed in conjunction with physical and virtual servers and desktops worldwide, across a variety of vertical markets. Though the market has been changing, with the success of Citrix and Hyper-V, still over 70 percent of DataCore's new business is linked to VMware environments. Because DataCore storage virtualization solutions are software based, they are portable and offer value-protection. The simple no penalty upgrade licensing model allows customers to purchase what they need when they need it versus overbuying upfront. This cost-effective approach has helped make DataCore very successful in areas where limited budgets are of primary consideration. For example, in Central Europe, nearly 500 hospitals rely on DataCore solutions. Similarly, hundreds of government entities and other public institutions are relying on DataCore, and these numbers are growing day by day. Dieter Deffner, head of Windows Server team at regional finance office Koblenz explains, "DataCore's SANsymphony is robust and fast, especially in combination with the high availability features of VMware. The two provide us with the key ingredients for a non-stop datacenter and the solutions work very well together."

The "Power of 3" takes place at Congress Center Frankfurt on October 26th and 27th 2010 - gathering leading IT vendors and users in the areas of data and storage management, server, desktop and storage virtualization and data center technologies, including cloud services and solutions. Last year, more than 1,500 visitors from over 20 countries visited SNW Europe, Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World.

SNW Europe, together with Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World will feature presentations by industry experts, demonstrations of new products and information on the latest technology developments. For more, go to http://www.snweurope.net/.
