Network Instruments Unveils Field-Upgradable GigaStor Line at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo

New Appliances Provide Unmatched Scalability for Data Center Performance Management

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Instruments®, a worldwide leader in network and application management, today announced the availability of a new line of GigaStor(TM) retrospective network analysis (RNA) appliances. The new line features significantly more storage in the same footprint as competing products and new options for expanding storage capacity in the field through its new internally-designed chassis. Scaling from 8 TB-576 TB, GigaStor is the first RNA device with the capability of expanding the number of drives available for large scale data collection at the monitoring site.

"The new GigaStor chassis is purpose-built to address the primary concerns of our data center customers of space, speed, and scalability," said Bruce Clark, vice president of worldwide sales for Network Instruments. "It allows us to increase storage capacity by 300% compared to past GigaStor single-chassis appliances. It is also the foundation for our data-center focused product initiatives including the launch of the only network recorder to save traffic to disk at full line rate on full-duplex 10 Gb links and the first field-upgradable network recording appliance."

Flexibility in the Field

With the massive increase in the amount of critical information and applications being housed in data centers, it's difficult for organizations to estimate their storage needs for post-event analysis and resolution. Larger organizations need the flexibility GigaStor offers to rapidly scale their performance management solutions on site. The new field-upgradable line of GigaStors offers the flexibility to purchase an appliance capable of storing either 8 TB or 16 TB, and then upgrading the appliance without removing it from the rack to store 16 TB, 32 TB, or 48 TB.
