SafetyBook.org(TM) Provides Private Recall Monitoring Service to Help Protect Families From Dangerous Products

CHICAGO, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer awareness of 2010's firestorm of product recalls can literally mean life or death. However, thanks to a patent-pending new web-service called SafetyBook.org(TM), American families can now have a comprehensive online tool that tracks and alerts them directly about recalled products they own.

September is National Baby Safety Month, and SafetyBook allows members to privately register their child products and other items on the company's website (http://www.safetybook.org).  The service then actively monitors recall alerts from federal agencies, and alerts members directly when one of their registered products is recalled.

According to SafetyBook, the CPSC has already recalled nearly 45 million products this year, and 32 million of those products are a child-safety threat.  A low-cost recall monitoring service is a long overdue solution.

"We're starting a product-safety revolution. For years, I've watched manufacturers, government agencies and consumers alike struggle with the difficulties of tracking and managing product recalls," says SafetyBook Founder and CEO Dan Verakis.  "In today's wired world, there's no reason we can't provide parents with peace of mind by more effectively protecting children and families from the millions of unaccounted faulty products recalled every year."

SafetyBook is a consumer advocate.  All member information is kept private and isn't shared with third parties.

"There's a never-ending barrage of product recalls, and it's a hassle trying to lookout for things that might threaten my children," says Kelly Hill, a mother of three near Pittsburgh. "I'm glad I can now track everything in one place."

How does SafetyBook work?

    1. Privately register your products at http://www.safetybook.org.
    2. Easily add children's products, appliances, vehicles and other products
to your  "My SafetyBook(TM)" account page.
    3. SafetyBook checks those items against past recalls issued by the CPSC and
       NHTSA.
    4. The web-service then actively monitors your registered products and sends
you a Direct-Alert(TM) message when your item(s) is recalled.
    5. The SafetyBook Registration Chain(TM), lets you transfer registration of
products you sell or give away.  Simply submit the new owner's email
       address.
    6. Membership is $24 per year ($2 per month).  The introductory price is
       $19.95 during SafetyBook's official launch.
