ViXS' 40 nm XCode(R) 5190 sets new standards for media concurrency with six channel HD transcoding

TORONTO, Sept. 10 -- ViXS Systems Inc., a leading provider of smart       network multimedia processor solutions that enable a rich video    entertainment experience, announced today the latest in its line-up of       multimedia processing technologies - the XCode(R) 5190.  This highly       integrated System-on-Chip (SOC) brings a new level of concurrency and       integration, delivering simultaneous six channel HD (high definition)       transcoding performance to the set-top box and home media gateway       markets.

The XCode(R) 5190 powers set-top box and home       media gateway devices by enabling true content mobility, sharing and       distribution across multiple classes of devices, including: set-top       boxes; HD media players; PCs; laptops; tablets; and mobile phones,       within any digitally connected home.  ViXS' patented transcoding engine,       low power consumption, high levels of integration, and Xtensiv(TM) software       stack, create a robust feature set that  supports emerging Internet       Protocol (IP) based streaming devices, as well as broadcast, Internet TV       and Over-The-Top (OTT) video services.

Launched only five months after the XCode(R)       4210, the XCode(R) 5190 has a highly flexible       architecture, which is a hallmark of all of ViXS' SOCs.  The XCode(R)       5190 is also highly adaptable and scalable, allowing manufacturers to       customize their solutions and enable new applications.

"The XCode(R) 5190 and the complete       software package from ViXS enable our customers to develop       differentiated, yet cost effective media products," said Ms. Sally Daub,       President and CEO of VIXS Systems Inc.  "Consumer digital media content       consumption is evolving to include new devices and applications, and we       believe we are well positioned with our technology roadmap to deliver       network multimedia processors that provide smart solutions to address       these trends."

  Key features include:
--  Media Processor SOC with a high level of concurrency and next
generation video quality to enable whole home DVR; place-shifting; and
content consumption on iPad(R) and other         tablet devices.
--  Real-time HD to HD transcoding, trans-wrapping, transcryption and
remote user interface (RUI) of six simultaneous streams to serve
multiple DLNA(R) clients within the home.
--  Supports 1080p60 transcoding for upcoming broadcasts.
--  Supports multiple video streaming protocols including Adobe(R)
Flash(R) Player 10.1, Apple's(R) sponsored         HTTP live and the
      emerging HTML 5 standard.
--  Low latency encoding for wireless and streaming applications within
      the home.
  --  Advanced security processor architecture.
--  ViXS QoS (quality of service) implementation for maintaining video
      quality in bandwidth constrained networks.
--  Dedicated TCP/IP Processor Engine and Dual Gigabit Ethernet for high
      network performance.
--  Integration of Cablecard, PCI-Express, multiple Serial ATA and USB
      peripherals.
--  ViXS Xtensiv(TM) Software Stack which allows our customers faster
time-to-market and greatly reduces required engineering resources.
--  Low power and compact design.
--  40 nanometer process with flip chip technology.

The XCode(R) 5190 will available shortly for       customer sampling.  Please contact our sales department for pricing and       further information.
