'twentysixmiles' Becomes Surprise Summer Hit

New, Independently Produced Series Starring John Schneider ranks among most popular comedies on Hulu, and is selected as ITVFest finalist

AVALON, Calif., July 13 -- The 26-mile ferry ride to Catalina Island off the coast of California can be rough - not unlike some television reviewers.  But when visitors arrive, sink their feet into its silvery-grey sand, take in the natural beauty, and discover the dynamic between its infamous party scene and the daily dramas of its residents, that's when the fun begins.

The new original series  "twentysixmiles" has become an audience favorite on Hulu.  The series, filmed in Catalina, has been so popular on Hulu that it has spent five straight weeks in its Top 30 Most Subscribed Comedies and Top 50 Most Popular Comedies.  With fans begging for more episodes, the finale of the series' initial six-episode run was aired on Tuesday, June 29, continuing its streak as one of Hulu's most popular shows.  Now fans are demanding DVD's of the six episodes.

As "twentysixmiles" grows as a fan favorite, it has also gained critical acclaim.  The series has been selected as a finalist at the prestigious Independent Television Festival, in Los Angeles, July 30.

Created and executive produced by Rob Miller (Tower 17 Productions), "twentysixmiles" stars John Schneider, best-known as Bo Duke on "The Dukes of Hazzard" and recently from ABC Family's "Secret Life of the American Teenager."  Schneider stars as Jack Kincaid, a successful investment executive forced to reevaluate his life in the wake of a divorce.  When his ex-wife Keri (Jessica Tuck) decides to raise their teenage children in a less stressful environment, Catalina Island, Jack trades his wing-tips for flip-flops to follow them, become a better father, and pursue a forgotten dream of his own - reuniting a college band with the help of his best friend and former brother-in-law Sean Murphy (Eric Lange), the de-facto "honorary mayor" of Catalina.

With more than 900 million views per month, Hulu leads the way in the premium online video revolution, recently venturing into original programming with reality shows like Simon Fuller's "If I Can Dream" and episodic series as "twentysixmiles."
