Social News Aggregator iSpotaStory.com Relaunches as Spotery.com with Enhanced Social Features

Revamped site combines content curation and social news

NEW YORK, July 13 -- iSpotaStory.com, a human-edited social news aggregator, today announced its relaunch as Spotery.com, following a seven-month public beta testing. The Spotery management team is unveiling a completely redesigned site with several new and enhanced social features, including a live-stream of user-submitted stories, profile pages where users ("spoters") can follow and be followed and a simple "spot bar" that auto-populates stories and embeds videos.

"Much has changed with the new site, but what hasn't changed is our use of professionally-trained editors who curate the day's top stories," said Spotery founder and CEO Limor Elkayam. "With the site taking a more social direction, we felt a name change was in order. The enhancements and new features reflect the indicated preferences of our visitors."

  Spotery's new features include:

--  A simplified method of adding links via a "spot bar" that
automatically generates a title, description and image, and
auto-embeds videos from many popular video-sharing sites
--  The ability to add additional related links to any story
--  Profile pages that have a news feed of all the stories that the people
      users follow are spotting
--  Revamped story pages showing a pane of who spotted the same story
--  Added Geek Bonus -- Vanity URLS: all usernames live under
      Spotery.com/Username

Spotery combines social news and content curation. Spotery's editors monitor and filter stories submitted to the site and promote content to the homepage and respective category pages. In the process, they help create a water cooler cheat-sheet of the day's top news.

At the same time, users can submit stories, without diluting or controlling the site's content. Each user's profile page has a feed of all the stories they and the people they follow have submitted. Spotery also gives users the ability to personalize the site by sharing the content they find interesting, thus building their own social news ecosystem.

Visitors to Spotery can read the editorially-selected news, add related links to stories already on the site, follow the live-stream of all submitted links, submit their own stories or follow other users.

"We recognize that the future of news on the Web will continue to overload consumers with information. We want to help people filter through the status updates and find what is valuable and interesting to them by providing an editorially-enhanced platform to find and share the day's top news."
