ShortForm.tv Launches, Bringing You an Endless Stream of Short Video Clips

Smart Curation makes it easy to lean back and enjoy the best video clips on the web, and personal channels enable visitors to save their favorite clips in a personal playlist

MENLO PARK, Calif., June 23 -- ShortForm.tv, the website that brings you the best short video clips on the web in a continuous stream, announced today the public beta launch of its platform. ShortForm.tv makes it easy for visitors to lean back and enjoy an endless stream of short video clips that have been curated and categorized into channels, similar to the TV viewing experience. The platform launches today with a destination site, http://www.shortform.tv, and an iPad application, available in the iTunes app store.

"While the number of online video viewers continues to steadily rise, it remains time consuming for the average person to sort through the millions of videos on social sites to find the hidden gems," said Nader Ghaffari, co-founder and CEO of ShortForm.tv. "ShortForm.tv does the work for you. We find the best video clips on the web throughout the day and add them to our themed channels. If you don't like a clip, you can simply click ahead to the next one. And when you find a clip you like, you can save it to your My Channel, curating your own Channel of video clips as you go."

The best short video clips on the web are identified by ShortForm.tv's Smart Curation process, which is a mix of technology and human curation. The curation technology aggregates across a wide variety of short video sources on the Internet, including YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and other social sites. It selects and categorizes the best content, new or old, based on specific qualitative and quantitative criteria defined by the curator. The site's playlist generator serves up clips visitors are most likely to enjoy from ShortForm.tv's content catalogue based on a proprietary scoring algorithm that ranks each video based on trending data and user feedback data.

Video clips are presented in channels, including Facebook Hits, HaHa Funny, So Hollywood, Feel Good, Totally Weird and Super Cute. The curator intervenes when necessary to discard videos, make sure they appear in the right channels, or insert videos manually.

Users can also set up their own My Channel, a personal channel where they can save their favorite video clips viewed on ShortForm.tv or anywhere else on the web. The My Channel video playlist can be shared publicly, making it easy for friends to enjoy the user's video picks. As more My Channels are added and become more sophisticated, users will be able to compete to have their My Channels featured on the ShortForm.tv homepage, enabling personal, curated content to reach a broader audience.

"Consumer demand for good short-form video content is rising, and consumption of online videos has become mainstream for a broad audience," said Brett Wilson, co-founder and CEO of TubeMogul, the leading video ad platform. "ShortForm.tv is positioning itself as a TV-like option for online video watching, which makes it a perfect destination for brands who are producing high-quality interstitial video advertising."
