Arctic M571-L Gaming Laser Mouse
The Arctic Cooling Arctic M571-L Gaming Laser Mouse is a great entry into the gaming input device market. Combining good quality with an inexpensive price, the M571-L is a worthwhile purchase.

Page 4: Use, Conclusion

Use

The M571-L feels like a quality mouse. The selectable weights make it able to cater to your own needs. The DPI adjustment needs a bit of work, though. We would have liked to see 400,800,1600 (or 2400). This would be good for slow, precision work, all the way up to gaming. Maybe a future product will allow this to be user selectable. Another issue we found with the M571-L is how far off the surface of the mouse pad that the laser tracks. Even holding the mouse a couple of inches above the surface makes the mouse track movements. This makes it very difficult to pick the mouse up and put it in another location on the mouse pad.

Hopefully, Arctic will have some firmware updates to fix some of the issues, but they are not major. The DPI settings are good enough, you do get used to the speed. The tracking issue makes you point the mouse at an angle to get it off the surface without tracking. It is all about training your muscle movement.

Conclusion

ASE Labs is very impressed with the M571-L. The MSRP is $29.95. This is nearly unheard of for a good feeling gaming laser mouse. You can't buy a product like this from another company without the price being at least twice. The problems aren't major, but they are fixable in an update. Still, Arctic has a quality product for their first input devices on the market. We like to see competition in the market and Arctic should give the gaming input device makers a run for their market share. Retail pricing should be a bit cheaper when it is out in force, you can check our normal online shops to see when it is avaliable.

Remember that input devices are subjective. While I liked the mouse, you may not. Since the mouse is relatively inexpensive, you can probably afford to buy it and, hopefully, you'll like it. After using this mouse for a week, we were impressed. You should be too. We recommend the Arctic M571-L.

ASE Labs would like to thank Arctic Cooling for making this review possible.
